This is also something I don't understand, as a charger like the CTEK MXS 5.0 moves to Step 4 at about 80% SoC. Unlock code needs to be calculated from adding the last 5 digits of your VIN number together. Say your VIN is XX12345, you take the last 5 digits (12345 in this case), and add them all up, so 1+2+3+4+5=15. Meaning your unlock code is 15. To enter the unlock code, go to main menu 19, and wait until it asks for the unlock code.

adamridgeway Discussion starter · Mar 14, 2018. Just brought an e91 touring and both key fobs don't work. The newer looking key fob has a battery you can change and the older looking one doesn't. I'm guessing it's probably a programming issue but not sure if this model has a battery in the remote or is the rechargeable type.
All E90s and M3 have two ground wire, one for the engine block and another is for cylinder head, which BMW calls "interference suppression cable". Main grounding cable is located under driver side of your engine, and the interference suppression cable is located at the passenger side, top of the engine and it's attached to the cylinder head.
